Visiting Family in San Diego

Sun Fun!

Painting with Grandpa

Surfing Lessons

Savannah whispered to me in the car on the way to the beach, "Mommy, when I get bigger, I'm going to be Grandpa's surin' buddy!" She's off to a good start. These pictures were too cute!

Dad helped me catch a few waves on his long board. It was my 3rd time surfing and this time I stood up about 6 or 7 times! The water was SO nice. My dad said it was probably 70 degrees. NICE!

Sunday gathering at Grandma and Grandpa's House

Sisters: Me, Leah and Krystal

James and Leah are such a cute couple. I have a few pictures of them in this pose. =)

Holly and Grandpa

Cute Cousins Allison, Cameron and Savannah

We were comparing the height difference in these two. I don't think this picture is totally accurate, but it's close. Holly is 6 weeks older (7 months and a week) and several inches shorter. Cole (5 months and 3 weeks) is going to be one tall kid!

Holly didn't get her blue eyes from me or Doug. Perhaps they came from my family gene pool because Holly has blue eyes just like Uncle James!

7 years and going strong...

They say the first year of marriage is the hardest, and then the next 4 can be even harder. Well, Doug and I have been married 7 years today and I don't remember a time when I felt like strangling him! We respect and honor one another and we get along great! Perhaps being best friends for 9 years before we were married has something to do with it. All I know is, I love being married to him and if eternity is anything like our last 7 years, I can't wait!
We had plans to do sealings at the temple and then go to Ruth's Chris for dinner. As luck would have it, Doug caught a nasty cold from work (his boss has the same thing) on Thursday so unfortunately we weren't able to do the things we had planned. I even bought a new dress for the occassion. We ended up just sitting on the grass at the temple this morning and exchanging letters (Doug didn't want to infect anyone else by doing any ordinances).

In Doug's letter, he included a quote from a member of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles:

“The obligations, the burdens, the responsibility of being a proper father may seem overwhelming. Fortunately, you are not required to preside and judge and act without counsel, without assistance. You have a wife—a companion, a counselor, a partner, a helpmeet, a friend.
Is she one with you?
Do you thank the Lord daily for her?
Do you keep the covenants you made with her and with the Lord in the temple?
Do you always strive to keep your thoughts and words and actions pure?
Do you realize that when you offend her in any way it is like offending yourself, since you are one?
Does she know of your love for her?
Is your relationship one of continual courtship?
Do you regularly spend time together—alone, where your expression and actions reassure her of your appreciation and reliance on her companionship?
Do you exercise righteous leadership with her?
Do you always keep sight of your marriage goal, the creation of an eternal unit bound together by love and by the power and ordinances of the priesthood?”

As I read this quote, I kept answering in my mind..."Yes he does, yep, yes, uh huh." It has been a true blessing to be married to my best friend and soul mate. He is the best companion and I feel so lucky to have him in my life...for eternity!

We didn't do anniversary gifts this year, (copper and wool are the 7 year symbols) instead, we put the gift money into the deck! Anyway, we will reschedule our temple sealings and dinner when Douger feels better. Something to look forward to! At least the day ended with a GREAT firework show at Thanksgiving Point that I watched from our guestroom window. (Not sure of the occassion. I like to think it was just for us!) It was a much better show than the 4th of July. It had awesome fireworks!!!

Doug has been on the couch most of the day, with the kleenex box by his side.
Happy 7 year Anniversary Douger! Hope you feel better soon! XOXOXOXO
