A quick "Hey Hey" from Finland

Ever been inside a real military bunker, or castle? Well, now we can say we have...well, at least in the remains of them. =)
These militar bunkers were built to protect Finland in the attack by the Russians in WWII.

This is the Raseborg Castle Ruin in Ekenas (Tammissari), Finland. It used to be surrounded by water back in the 1370's. It was quite an experience to be able to go inside and imagine what might have taken place back then and try to figure out what each of the different rooms were used for. Very cool!

Every restaurant we've eaten at so far as been right at the edge of the ocean. It is so beautiful everywhere. Green lush trees, beautiful ocean. Lovin' it'!

Grandma and Grandpa have been here!

(sing the following phrases to the opening song to "Signing Time")
There's playing time...
...and reading time...
...and laughing time...
...and now it is our favorite time, HUG TIME!

Lemonade for Sale

Savannah had her first lemonade stand yesterday! We sat on the corner of the entrance to our subdivision on the main road and sold $.10 glasses of lemonade for one hour and made $9.20!! (sorry, I only had my cell phone with me and I don't know how to get the pictures off of it)
The most fun part was watching people drive by and then turn around and come back for lemonade. Savannah probably only really sold 15 glasses of lemonade, but after many generous tips, she was able to make a lot more than $1.50!
Here is Savannah counting her loot!

This was her first time making money, so she was able to pay tithing for the first time. She was so tickled to be able to pay tithing.
She filled out the form (with help), put the slip and money in the envelope and...
...gave it to a member of the Bishopric. Good for you, Savannah!

Product Malfunction

I found Holly running around with only the velcro straps of her diaper still intact. Not sure what happened, exactly.

Catching Up

My cousin Connor and his wife Jody told us about this gardening method and how it was supposed to do wonders for your fruits and veggies. So, we decided to give it a shot this year. Here's hoping!

The first plant...yellow squash.
Savannah planted her own pumpkins!
Basil, oh sweet basil!
From left to right (back row): cherry tomatoes (2), honeydew (3),
(front row): grape tomatoe (2), cantelope (2), watermelon
Left to right back row: chives (which you can't see), Cilantro, white onions, yellow onions, cucumber, 2 crooked neck squash
Left to right front row: 2 Basil, 2 eggplant, 3 squash
We planted the back box too (no pictures yet), mostly with tomatoes, and strawberries, and of course, zucchini! The wind has really mangled many of the plants so far, so we're not sure how well they will do. We figure, the hardest part (the grow boxes and soil mix) is done, so next year we can focus on wind blocks. =} Keep your fingers crossed!

Mother's Day

More often than not, I get pictures of silly faces from Savannah rather than smiles, but this time she cooperated for one of the pictures...for mother's day. =)

Holly was eating bread in her highchair and being so silly. This is one of the videos I caught of her... (the singing at the end is a line from Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Can you guess which line she's singing?)

Long time no blog

It's been over a month since I blogged last. Our computer got a huge virus and Doug has been backing stuff up onto new hard drives, and I've been taking WAY too much video on my powershot camera and those have taken up a ton of room on our hard drive as well. So, I haven't been able to download any more pictures or videos until recently (good thing my camera has an 8G card and can hold TONS of pics). Anyway, we now have 2 Terabytes of hard drive but the computer still has a virus so Doug will have to wipe out the entire hard drive and reload everything. Not a fun project.
On a more positive note, I just had to take a second and post this picture Savannah just drew. She is such a sweetheart...and quite artistic too!She handed me this picture and said, "I drew a picture of Jesus!" I love her!
