The sweet sound of genuine girl giggles
Holly often sits in her bumbo chair on the table while we eat dinner. She kept eyeing my food tonight hoping a spoonful would eventually come her way. When the offer never came, she opted for the next best thing...or should I say, the next closest thing.
She got as far as her big toe and soon realized it just wasn't satisfying her ravenous appetite.
Before she could knock off the remaining 4 toes, it was her turn to eat. Savannah asked if she could try feeding Holly her rice cereal. She hadn't ever tried before so I had her give it a shot. It was so cute to watch her make open mouth faces as she fed Holly each bite. I was glad to see that I'm not the only one who does it.
(It reminded me of Dash on the Incredibles who always fusses that his mom makes faces at Jack Jack when she feeds him. You can't help it. It just happens.)
Each bite Savannah gave her ended up half way down her chin and eventually onto her chest. She had rice cereal everywhere but in her mouth. Savannah thought that was so funny that she started laughing with each bite that came back out. Once Savannah started laughing, Holly couldn't help but giggle too.

After a few spoonfulls, they had each other giggling with sheer delight. Holly would start to laugh as soon as the spoon came to her mouth, then she would take a bite, barely swallow and begin giggling again. I was so afraid she was going to inhale her food and choke. She was laughing so hard that she kept snorting, which made her laugh even harder.
Ahh, truly her mother's daughter. *smile*

Date Night
So, I told Doug I wanted to do something fun on our date night so I suggested we go to the driving range at the golf course and hit some balls. He loved that idea until about 3pm when he realized he would be working in the yard the next day and needed to conserve his energy. So, for our date night, we picked up Cafe Rio Salads and went to Boondocks to eat and play miniature golf...a lot less strenuous. Holly came with us. When we got to Boondocks, the door said, "No outside food or drinks." So, we drove around looking for a nice park to eat our food. We ended up at a church with benches. Ha! Only in Utah. We ate our salads and then Doug wanted to drive up from where the church was "real quick" and see the new developments being built in Draper on the mountain (Suncrest/Traverse Ridge area). We ended up driving all the way over the mountain to the other side, the side we live on so we never went to Boondocks to play miniature golf. But, we sure enjoyed the scenic drive and view. When we got home, we had play time with Holly. That was way more fun than miniature golf!

I'm so glad when Grandpa comes!
Grandpa came to stay with us for a few days before heading off to his Lake Powell Trip with the guys. Savannah follows him wherever he goes when he is here. She even waits outside the bathroom door until he is done. She LOVES that Grandpa!
Grandpa came to watch Savannah at her swimming lessons. When her lesson was over, I brought her towel to her and she said, "No, I'm waiting for Grandpa!" So, I handed the towel to Grandpa and he got her out of the pool.
As I was loading Holly into the car after swim lessons, Grandpa and Savannah got in the back of the car to hide from me. They had the window hatch down so I couldn't see them. Savannah got such a kick out of her Grandpa squishing into the back of the car to hide with her!

Firsts
Savannah can make Holly smile and laugh better than anyone!
Savannah is taking swim lessons for the first time. She was a little nervous about going because she thought they were going to make her go under the water. Once I convinced her that they wouldn't make her do anything she didn't feel comfortable doing, she was excited. Then, after her first swim lesson, she couldn't wait to go back for more! The picture is of her in the "holding" area where they have their lesson about water safety before they go into the water.

Freaky
Savannah put her princess blanket over her head and when I looked over at her, the head of Sleeping Beauty just happened to be at the top and looked like Savannah's head at a glance. I did a total double take...it totally freaked me out! (By the time I got the camera, the blanket moved a little so Sleeping Beauty's head was even more centered on Savannah's head than the picture shows.)

Back to Square One
Well, after watching our grass die from lack of good soil and from voles (type of mouse) eating the roots, we decided to just cut our losses and start over. So, Doug rented a bobcat last weekend and tore out ALL existing grass in the front and back yard. He had some really good top soil delivered on Friday and used the bobcat to take piles of it from the front of our driveway to the backyard. Then the weather showed rain coming on Wed., so we both got out there on Tuesday to spread the top soil around so it wouldn't harden in the rain and be nearly impossible to move around. Are we having fun yet?
Ready for some sun!
