This machine was awesome. One guy just shoveled the concrete into the machine and the other guy moved it slowly backward as it created the curb.
They used this simple rolling tool to make the stamp in the concrete. I was pretty cool to watch.
That open spot is for drainage.
As Doug was trying to quickly tear out the existing (dead) shrubs and bark in the front planter area so they could pour the curbing around it, he accidentally stepped on the prongs of a heavy leveling rake and the handle came up and wacked him right in the head. Doug said he saw stars for a while there. Left a pretty sweet goose egg too...and a bit of a headache. ={
Here's daddy's helper. She LOVES to help her daddy!!!
Doug wasn't here when the sod was delivered. Needless to say, he was a bit ticked with the placement of the pallats...right in the middle of where he needed to lay the sod. Numnuts.
By 7pm it was getting dark and Doug had been laying sod by himself since 3pm. My dad got back from his motorcycle ride so he started helping. Since Doug doesn't like asking for help, I called down the entire Ward list to recruit more people to help out so they could finish the job before it got too late. Two guys and a young man came despite the nasty weather conditions. It was super windy and dirt was blowing everywhere. You can see all the dust/dirt in the air that was blowing around. I had dirt in my ears just from being outside to take a few pictures. You can imagine how much dirt the guys had in their ears/nose/hair. They finally finished around 9:30pm. What troopers!
